Pastoral support

The support offered to every Sixth Former is excellent. Each student is allocated a form tutor who supports issues that arise on a day to day basis. For more serious concerns the Sixth Form Management Team are here to help and support.

Sixth Form is a real change in culture for some of our students. With extra freedom comes extra responsibility that not all students can immediately cope with. It can be difficult to find the right balance between studies and a social life that encompasses learning to drive, personal relationships, part time work, interviews, university visits and of course making a contribution at home.  Students have to learn how to organise and prioritise their time; this is vital for Sixth Form study and an important life skill for future aspirations.

Ofsted in 2015 were very impressed with our support and made the following comments;

'strong pastoral teams have very effective systems to monitor the well being of students'

'students receive excellent care, guidance and support'

Support can be offered in various ways, for example:

  • 1:1 sessions
  • Group work
  • Parental meetings
  • Learning support
  • After school clinics
  • Referrals to outside agencies

The golden rule with any problems during the Sixth Form is to speak to someone, we are here to help, no matter what the problem may be.
