Summer School
Cheam High School Transition Summer School 2024
Due to the huge success of Summer School we have run over the past few years, Cheam High School were delighted to run the event again during summer 2024!
Transition Summer School is for Year 6 students starting Cheam High School in the September of that academic year.
The feedback that we have received from previous years has been extremely positive. Our students’ feedback has highlighted just how much they enjoyed making new friends, loved new experiences, and felt comfortable exploring the school site without any other year groups present.
Parent/Carer feedback was also extremely positive, not only because it was free, but because their children were enjoying themselves and talking about their new school.
During 2 days in the first week of the summer holidays, over 300 students attended our exciting programme, which included a range of different lesson experiences, a Bush Craft team building day and activities all designed to help them get to know the school site and to make new friends.
Students took part in a range of lessons, including Food Technology, PE, History, Drama and Science. They also had lots of fun engaging in a day of Bush Craft activities outside, including den building, fire making and water purifying.
It was fantastic to see new friendships evolving, students finding their way around the school site, exciting taster lessons in action and relationships building between students and staff. We were again, highly impressed with the students that attended the summer school in terms of behaviour, manners and kindness towards each other.
Student voice has been extremely positive about the programme and therefore we will be running the Summer School again on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th August 2025 for those students that will be joining us in September 2025.
