Summer School

Cheam High School Transition Summer School 2022

Due to the huge success of Summer School 2021 Cheam High School were delighted to run the event again summer 2022. Transition Summer School is for Year 6 students starting Cheam High School in the September of that academic year.

Feedback from the previous year was extremely positive, from staff, students and parents/carers, and students appeared to experience a smoother transition from Primary to Secondary school.

During the first four days of the summer holidays we had over 215 students attend our exciting program, which included a range of different experiences, trips, getting to know the school environment and making new friends.

Students went to Frylands Wood for an adventure day taking part in archery, orienteering, sumo suits and an obstacle course and also visited Hever castle where they toured the grounds and played in the maze.

We were again, highly impressed with the students that attended the summer school in terms of behaviour, manners and kindness towards each other. It was fantastic to see new friendships evolving, students finding their way around the school site, exciting taster lessons in action and relationships building between students and staff.

Student voice has been extremely positive about the program and therefore we will be running the Summer School again Monday 24th July 2023 – Thursday 27th July 2023 for those students that will be joining us in September 2023.

Cheam High School Transition Summer School 2021

Cheam High School were delighted to run a Summer School for Year 6 students starting Cheam High School in September 2021.  During the first week of the summer holidays we had over 200 students attend a week long program, which included a range of different experiences, getting to know the school environment and making new friends.  We were all particularly excited to be able to take the students out on three different trips!

Students went to Frylands Wood for an adventure day doing archery, orienteering, sumo suits and an obstacle course.  We also went to a zoo and Hever and Leeds castle.

We were highly impressed with the students that took part.  In fact, at many of our trip locations, we were praised by the staff and members of the public about how fantastically well behaved our students were, which made us all very proud and happy they were due to become part of our Year 7 group at Cheam High School.

I would also like to say a big thank you to all the staff who gave up their time to make this possible, it was enjoyed by all staff and students alike!
