Departments

Departments play a vital role in the education of our students.

Each department has a Subject Leader who is responsible for the work of the department and is accountable to the Leadership Team, Headteacher and Governing Body.  Large departments will have additional posts of responsibility which may focus on a particular Key Stage, or examination course.

Each department meets regularly to discuss ways of developing the curriculum and students' learning, to respond to new courses or examinations, and also to ensure that standards are high across the department's work.  Departments track students' progress and have a series of formal assessments that feed into this.  In addition, each department will give feedback to ensure that students know what they need to do and provide interventions as needed to support individual students to achieve.

Each department has provided information about the curriculum it offers, along with a brief description of the courses.

You will find a list of departments on the left hand side of the screen; we encourage you to read more about each subject.
