About the course

Are you a caring, compassionate and empathetic person who enjoys helping others? This course will develop your understanding of the health and social care sector and the skills needed to support people in a range of settings.

You’ll learn how to communicate effectively, promote equality and diversity, and provide person-centred care. The course also explores human biology, focusing on how body systems function and how to identify and manage health conditions.

This qualification provides an excellent foundation for careers in nursing, midwifery, social work and other health and care professions.

What you will study

Mandatory

  • Principles in Health and Social Care
  • Person centred approach to Care
  • Supporting people with mental health conditions
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care

Optional

  • Supporting people with / in relation to sexual health, pregnancy and post natal
  • Supporting healthy nutrition and lifestyles

 

Assessment

Assessment requirements are divided equally between externally set examinations and internally assessed, externally moderated evidence.

All assessments from Year 12 and Year 13 including external exams and NEA coursework will contribute towards the final grade.
