On Thursday 7th March, staff and students at Cheam High celebrated World Book Day 2024. This year, we held a World Book Day competition for Years 7 and 8.

Year 7 and 8 students were asked to design the front cover of their favourite book. We received over 50 entries and our English ambassadors made up the judging panel. It was lovely to see so many hand-drawn, colourful, and some 3D, unique front covers from our youngest cohorts. There were so many entries that we struggled to narrow it down to just three, with the English ambassadors disagreeing over third place and making their case for the entries they thought deserved the spot the most. The students were very involved and enjoyed taking part in every aspect of the week.

A huge thank you to all the staff for their hard work, for those who dressed up as book characters and those who displayed their current and favourite reads to stimulate conversations around reading.
