Roald Dahl Week Round-Up!
Posted: 9/10/25

What a fantastic week in the Library, celebrating the magical world of Roald Dahl!
Last week, we reminded ourselves of the incredible joy and boundless imagination that Roald Dahl has gifted us all - inspiring us to dream big, think wildly, and celebrate the magic of storytelling! Here’s what our Year 7s and 8s got up to.
Monday: Design Your Own Willy Wonka Sweet!
Students designed and created their very own piece of confectionery for Willy Wonka’s factory. Using all sorts of materials, they brought their sweet inventions to life. The entries were brilliant. From colour-changing marshmallows to dancing chocolate bars, the ideas were as imaginative as anything Wonka himself could dream up!
Tuesday: Roald Dahl Quiz!
We put our knowledge to the test with a Roald Dahl quiz. Students showed off just how much they knew about Roald Dahl’s books, characters, and crazy plot twists. Our Dahl experts rose to the challenge with loads of enthusiasm.
Wednesday: Invent Your Own Gobblefunk Word!
On Wednesday, our students became true wordsmiths, stepping into the shoes of Roald Dahl himself to create their very own Gobblefunk words – just like the ones used by the BFG! From silly-sounding nouns to brand-new verbs, the creativity was off the charts. We had words that made us giggle, some that sounded delicious, and a few we still can’t quite pronounce!
Thursday: Mix your own batches of the BFG’s famous Frobscottle
Thursday was all about one of Roald Dahl’s most famous (and fizziest) creations - the BFG’s Frobscottle! Always a firm favourite, this activity had everyone mixing up their own magical version of the green, bubbly drink. Some found it delicious and couldn’t get enough, while others weren’t so sure - let’s just say it had some very strong opinions!
We sold over 1,000 chocolate bars as part of our Roald Dahl golden ticket sale – and hidden inside some were 10 magical golden tickets. Our ten lucky winners each bagged themselves a brilliant voucher prize.
It was all in support of our fabulous school library, and thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm (and sweet tooth), we raised a fantastic amount of money to help keep to keep our library bursting with all your favourite books!
Thank you to everyone who joined in. Roald Dahl reminded us all of the power of imagination, kindness, and a little bit of nonsense.
