Houses of Parliament Trip
Posted: 29/11/24
On Wednesday 21st November, Years 12 and 13 Government and Politics students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament. The students enjoyed an extensive tour detailing the history and inner workings of Parliament, which included a look at the House of Lords and the entry route for the Monarch into Parliament.
Whilst on this tour, the students were even given an impromptu opportunity to speak to and hear from a working Baroness in the House of Lords, and to view the Bills currently being considered in Parliament, such as the Assisted Dying Bill.
After the tour, the students were also met by our new local MP for Sutton and Cheam, Luke Taylor. They had the opportunity to hear from and ask questions to Mr Taylor about working in Parliament or in Politics, and his views on current topical issues.
Overall, the day was very interesting, informative and engaging for the students, and should really help bring their studies in Government and Politics to life.
