Year 13 Trip to Krakow
Posted: 28/03/25

Last week the Year 13 Criminology students travelled to Krakow, Poland to learn about the history of the Holocaust and the genocide of the Jewish community.
They visited a range of memorials, historic sites of the city, Schindler’s museum as well as the site of the largest concentration camp itself, Auschwitz-Birkenau. The hard-hitting realities of this trip gave students the ability to work through many questions they had as well as being able to witness hate crime and state crime on this scale. All students came away feeling like they had learnt an extremely important part of history, which they responded to in a very responsible, respectful and compassionate manner.
We also enjoyed visiting the incredible salt mines, the old town filled with authentic stalls and beautiful cathedrals, as well as playing a round of bowling and mini golf. With such a packed itinerary and late flight back on Sunday evening, we had some very tired teenagers (and teachers) on Monday morning. However, we have no doubt this is a trip that will have a special place in their memories for a long time to come.
