At the Royal Academy of Dance’s Step Around Town event on the evening of Monday 28th April, two captivating performances by students from Years 7 to 9 stood out.
The first group, made up of 20 Year 7 and 8 students, performed to Chandelier, showcasing elegance, grace, and determination in a beautifully crafted contemporary routine. The performance combined large set phrases with student-led choreography and demonstrated strong group work, reflecting both creativity and discipline.
The second group, also featuring 20 students from Years 7, 8, and 9, delivered a high-energy routine to Rocket Ship, blending lifts, acrobatics, waacking, and contemporary dance. Their confident execution, technical excellence, and dynamic stage presence wowed the audience and highlighted their impressive versatility.
Earlier in the evening, all students took part in a warm-up and an engaging hip-hop workshop led by a professional practitioner from Step into Dance, giving them the opportunity to develop new skills and connect with other young dancers.
