UPDATE: CheamFest '26

Posted: 23/06/26

Please see the below letter emailed to parents/carers today:

Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: CHEAM FEST UPDATE

Sadly, we are going to have to cancel this Friday’s Cheam Fest. The Met Office is now forecasting 35 degrees for Friday. Given the residual heat in buildings and the tarmac ground from the extremely hot two days prior, it may well feel even hotter on site.

Although we had planned to reconfigure the layout of the event to provide as much shade as possible, which would largely keep attendees and stall-holders out of the sun, the very high temperatures mean that certain activities planned would be very unwise. Our visiting animals would also not be able to attend given the risk to their health and, generally, the enjoyment of the event would be significantly diminished.

We are hoping to reschedule the event for the following Friday, July 3rd when forecasts currently suggest temperatures of 26 degrees. I imagine you will all agree that is a far more sensible temperature for an event of this nature and would enable all members of our community to really enjoy the evening. However, there are a number of arrangements that need to be made to ensure that rescheduling is possible and I will update you all as soon we are clear on next steps. Until we can confirm that this will be possible, ticket sales are now paused.

We will speak with students planning stalls after school today in our prearranged meeting. If previous events are anything to go by, I know many families will be planning some wonderful food and drink offerings – our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused here if you have already begun your preparations.

Best regards,

Mr P Vosper

Deputy Head Teacher

News item @ 23/06/26:

We're down to the final 100 tickets!  Both previous events have completely sold out, so don't miss your chance to join in the fun this year...

Whilst temperatures have forced us into temporary changes to the school day for the remainder of the week, as it stands, CheamFest will continue as planned.

As an outdoor event, we thankfully won’t face the extremities of temperature that will be encountered in busy classrooms and forecasts suggest outdoor areas should be a little cooler by Friday evening.  Nonetheless, we will be seeking to provide as much shade as we can and will spread the layout to help visitors be as comfortable as possible (including the visiting animals, of course!).  We will also have plenty of cold drinks available alongside a huge range of student stalls and activities.

We will keep an eye on the weather forecast and will update you if there is any change to proceedings.

Featuring this year...

  • A marching band
  • Goats and Shetland Ponies
  • 50 student-led stalls representing countries and cultures from around the world, sports, games and lots of prizes!
  • An unbelievable array of food including external food trucks and, of course, ice cream!
  • Live music and performances on the Student Stage!

Our school’s student-led annual community festival will again be taking place on Friday 26th June.

The event will include over 50 stalls providing food, activities and games representing national and cultural heritages from Britain to Brazil, Italy to India and much more besides, as well as stalls representing students’ areas of interest including an offering from our brilliant Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Maths (STEAM) Club.

On arrival, each attendee will be given a ‘passport’. Take this with you as you travel to a stall representing each of the seven continents, complete their challenge (for example, take part in the game of ‘Sapo’ for South America), get your passport stamped and use it to enter our raffle on exit. And also make sure you take in the stage which will be showcasing the school’s instrumentalists and hosting some karaoke singalongs…!

Definitely make sure that you come hungry as not only will students and families be providing homemade food and drink options, we will also have external food vans present to ensure that everyone leaves extremely well fed!

A reminder too that, despite us releasing extra tickets, on both previous occasions this event has been a sell-out so please book tickets early to avoid disappointment.

We look forward to seeing you there and keep an eye on the Cheam High Flyer for updates as the big date approaches!
