STEAM Update - World Robotics Olympiad

Cheam High School Makes Impressive Debut at World Robotics Olympiad Regional Competition

On Monday 15th June, Cheam High School proudly took part in the World Robotics Olympiad (WRO) Regional Competition at Newcastle College for the very first time.

Representing the school were two student teams,Team Volt and Cyber Fire, who competed against schools from across the region in a challenging robotics competition that tested their engineering, programming, creativity and problem-solving skills.

The students spent many months designing, building and refining their robots in preparation for the event. Throughout the competition, both teams demonstrated outstanding teamwork, resilience and technical expertise as they tackled a series of demanding challenges.

We are especially delighted to announce that Team Volt achieved a fantastic result, securing qualification for the UK National Finals. Their success means they will now represent Cheam High School at the national event on 3rd July at The Dock, Leicester, where they will compete against the best teams from across the country.

As this was Cheam High School's first ever participation in the World Robotics Olympiad, the achievements of both teams are particularly significant. Reaching the National Finals in our debut year is a remarkable accomplishment and reflects the dedication and enthusiasm shown by our students.

"Competing in the World Robotics Olympiad has been an amazing experience. As Cheam High School's first teams to enter the competition, we were proud to represent the school and showcase the skills we have developed through robotics. We learned a great deal from the event and are excited to see Team Volt progress to the National Finals."  Team Volt and Cyber Fire

The competition also highlights the growing strength of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) opportunities at Cheam High School. Through robotics, students develop not only technical skills but also creativity, collaboration and innovative thinking; qualities that are essential for the future.

We congratulate all members of Team Volt and Cyber Fire for representing the school with such resilience, ambition and determination. We wish Team Volt the very best of luck as they prepare for the UK National Finals in Leicester.
