Our author visit was a huge hit!!

Last Friday, we welcomed the highly regarded author and film maker, Matt Dickinson to Cheam High.

Our year 7 students had the privilege to listen to Matt during their assembly, talking about his experiences as a climber and explorer, including his successful journey climbing to the summit of Mount Everest. Students and staff all praised Matt for being such an inspirational, informative and entertaining speaker, leaving us all with a lasting impression.

Matt stayed with us in the library all morning, carrying out workshops for year 7, 8 and 9 students. 25 students from each year group were invited to these sessions due to excellent engagement and progress in their Reading Plus lessons. These were highly interactive and so much fun, incorporating video clips from Matt’s personal accounts of his expeditions.

Matt continued to engage with students during lunch and sign lots of his books!

Before leaving, Matt fed back that he was hugely impressed with how well our students behaved, focused and engaged. Well done everyone, you should be very proud of yourselves!
